Climbing & Fitness Classes

Yoga & Fitness


Join us in our fitness studio for classes that range from relaxing and restorative to powerful and invigorating. Drop-ins welcome. 

Details:

  • Studio is equipped with blocks, mats, and yoga straps
  • All classes are between 50-60 minutes. All levels welcome.
  • Classes are included with Day Pass, Punch Pass, or Membership

Intro to Climbing

Perfect for first time climbers or those looking to master the basics. This class covers skills, techniques, and vocabulary to help take your climbing to the next level.

Details:

New to climbing? We have you covered! This class provides guided instruction for beginning climbers or those curious about basic technique. With a maximum of 6 students, class is sure to cater to your skill set. Through demonstration and practice, you’ll learn the foundations of climbing technique, including helpful beginner tips and tricks. 


Equipment rental (shoes and harness) included. Please wear comfortable clothing that doesn't hinder your ability to move. Pants and layers are recommended. 


Participants must be at least 14 years old.

Top Rope Belay Basics

Learn to tie-in and top rope belay from one of our certified AMGA Climbing Wall Instructors.

$35/person. Dates coming soon.


This class will teach and practice safely and efficiently managing rope to protect the fall of a climber on top rope. Rental gear is included in this class. 


Process:

  • Tying a figure-8 follow through
  • Loading the (tube style) belay device
  • Partner checks
  • PBUS belay technique
  • Climbing commands

Intro to Lead Belay and Lead Climbing

This class will introduce and practice the introductory skills to correctly and efficiently lead climb and lead belay with a tube-style belay device.

$55 for the first class. Take the class a second time for free. Dates coming soon.


This class will introduce and practice the introductory skills to correctly and efficiently lead climb and lead belay with a tube-style belay device.

Taught by an AMGA Climbing Wall Instructor. 

Gear rental is not included.

RoKC Fit

Join us for an all-levels functional fitness class to round out your routine.

This is a 50 minute class based on functional fitness, featuring segments on strength, core, conditioning, and mobility. Come prepared to get your heart rate pumping and break a sweat - this full-body workout is designed to help you reach optimal fitness!\

Pilates, Zumba, and Specialty Classes

Our Pilates and Zumba classes are offered several times each week. Stay tuned for information about pop-up specialty classes.

We will offer several pilates and Zumba classes per week.

  • Pilates uses a series of non-impact movements to develop strength, flexibility, and balance, with a focus on core strength
  • Zumba is a fitness program consisting of dance and aerobic exercises set to popular music

Personal Training

Work one-on-one with our personal trainers to help reach your fitness goals. Whether you are looking to increase your physical fitness for climbing, nutrition coaching, weight loss or skill building, our trainers will be there to provide you with guidance and accountability that you need.

Youth Programs

Recreational Climbing Club

Recreational Climbing Club focuses on children who are interested in learning to climb or already enjoy the sport. By the end of the semester, climbers will be proficient with basic climbing movement, techniques, teamwork, all while having fun! No climbing experience necessary.

Program Details:

  • Ages: 8 - 12yrs
  • Spring dates TBA
  • Club meets Monday or Wednesday
  • Time: 4:30-6:00pm
  • Instructed by RoKC Youth Coaches (1:6 coach to climber ratio)
  • Maximum 12 climbers
  • Cost: $120 a month, first month is pro-rated; final month is not pro-rated and the youth gym membership will finish at the end of the month.

What's Included:

  • Club includes gym membership- minors must be accompanied by an adult during Open Gym hours
  • Membership includes shoes and harness rentals
  • Climbers get one guest pass per month
  • End of the semester celebration on the last night of club!

Advanced Climbing Club

The Advanced Climbing Club focuses on children who are very interested in climbing and potentially want to join the Climbing Team. The semester is designed for kids to become proficient with intermediate climbing movement, techniques, risk management, and teamwork.

Some climbing experience is recommended, but motivation is the main ingredient for a kiddo to love the Advanced Climbing Club. Youth climbers who show focus, maturity, and the will to continually improve may be invited to try out for the RoKC Competitive Climbing Team.


Program Details:

  • Ages: 8 - 12yrs
  • Spring dates TBA
  • Club meets Tuesday and Thursday
  • Time: 4:30-6:30pm
  • Instructed by RoKC Youth Coaches (1:6 coach to climber ratio)
  • Maximum 12 climbers

High School Climbing Club

High School Climbing Club focuses on teens who are very interested in climbing and potentially want to join the Climbing Team. The semester is designed for teens to become proficient with intermediate climbing movement and techniques, risk management, and teamwork.

Teen climbers are given the opportunity to learn top rope belaying, lead climbing, and discover if they are interested in competing. And of course, have fun! Climbing experience is recommended, but motivation is the main ingredient for your teen to love High School Climbing Club. Youth climbers who show focus, maturity, and the will to continually improve may be invited to try out for the RoKC (Competitive) Climbing Team.

Competitive Youth Climbing Team

Our competitive team is for young climbers who are dedicated to improving. The team practices three nights a week year round and travels to competitions throughout the region. There are no age limits, but we do expect a high level of commitment and focus.

RoKC’s competitive climbing team travels to competitions across the midwest, having sent climbers to regionals and nationals every year since its inception. Climbers are expected to have basic knowledge and climbing experience, though all levels are welcome. Team has structured practice three times a week. They practice for tall climbing competitions in the spring and bouldering competitions in the fall. Competitions are optional, but encouraged.

TEAM ROKC TRYOUT: POSTPONED due to COVID-19 closures.

Ready to take your climbing to the next level? Team RoKC is holding an Open House/Tryout!  During this event climbers will have the opportunity to learn all about Team RoKC, meet the coaches, and see what it means to be a competitive rock climber. Pre-registration is required but no commitment is necessary.

Summer Camp

At Camp RoKC: no two weeks are the same! Your camper will climb tall walls, play fun games, make great friends and learn new skills! Led by our RoKC Youth Coaches, young climbers learn teamwork, problem-solving, and experience an increase in confidence and self-efficacy in climbing. The fun is just a bonus! Camp will have a delayed start for the summer of 2020, starting in June! 2-Day and 3-Day camps available.

Terms and Conditions

- The minimum enrollment to run summer camp is 4 children for Ages 4-6 camp and 6 kids for all other camps. If enrollment is below 4 or 6 we can either refund your payment or schedule you for a later camp.

- Cancellations up to one week prior to the event will receive a full refund*

- Cancellations up to 48 hours will receive a 25% refund* 

- Cancellations under 48 hours will not receive a refund*

Drop-off/Pick-up

Check-in begins 10 minutes prior to the start of summer camp. Please do not drop off your climber any earlier as staff will not be available to watch them. Please also be on time to pick up your child as staff will not be available to watch them once camp is over.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations up to one week prior to event will receive a full refund
  • Cancellations up to 48 hours prior to event will receive a 25% refund
  • Cancellations less than 48 hours prior to event will not receive a refund

Play Lounge


Bring the kids in to climb or drop them off in the Play Lounge so you can get a workout in! Our Play Lounge staff is excited to entertain your kiddos in our fun and inclusive environment. RoKC's Play Lounge is not a licensed childcare facility, therefore, a parent/guardian must remain on the RoKC Olathe property during child's stay. All hours are first come, first serve.

Time Limit

Play Lounge is not a licensed child care center. Therefore, ROKC is restricted to only allow your child’s usage of Play Lounge to no more than 2 hours total per day. RoKC recommends to limit usage of the Play Lounge to age appropriate time lengths suggested below:

  • 6 mos - 9mos    30 mins
  • 9 mos - 2 yrs    1 hour
  • 2 yrs - 4 yrs      1.5 hours
  • 4 yrs - 6 yrs.     2 hours

Price Per Child

  • $5/hour for members
  • $40 ten-hour punch pass for members
  • $7/hour non-members
  • $60 ten-hour punch pass for non-members

Before You Lounge

  • My child is wearing socks and is dressed for play (shoes will be taken off and placed in cubbies prior to entry).
  • My child's hands are sanitized or washed prior to entering Play Lounge.
  • My child is nursed/fed
  • My child is in a clean diaper or has used the restroom.
  • All personal items are labeled with my child’s name.
  • I have a change of clothes in case of an accident.
  • I will have my phone with me at all times for staff to be able to contact me.

Check-In

  • All children must have a parent/ guardian (18+) sign a waiver and agree to Play Lounge's terms of use.
  • For your child’s safety, a parent/ guardian is required to sign your child in and out of Play Lounge. The parent/guardian who signs the child in MUST also sign the child out.
  • The Parent/guardian will receive a wristband upon check in and must have the matching wristband on check out.

Illness

  • A child must be symptom-free of a fever for 24 hours in order to return. If your child is showing visible signs of sickness, it is the discretion of the staff to permit entrance. Signs included but not limited to:
  • Fever
  • Rash
  • Congested breathing/coughing
  • Excessive nasal drainage
  • Eye discharge
  • Vomiting

RoKC will be closed on the following days: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Black Friday (open at 10a), Christmas Eve (close at 4p), Christmas Day (re-open at 10a on December 26), New Year’s Eve (close at 4p).
