New to climbing? We have you covered! This class provides guided instruction for beginning climbers or those curious about basic technique. With a maximum of 6 students, class is sure to cater to your skill set. Through demonstration and practice, you’ll learn the foundations of climbing technique, including helpful beginner tips and tricks.
Equipment rental (shoes and harness) included. Please wear comfortable clothing that doesn't hinder your ability to move. Pants and layers are recommended.

Now Enrolling. Learn how to retrieve equipment at the end of a climb via lowering.

The clinic will start with a demonstration of the technique.

Recreational Climbing Club focuses on children who are interested in learning to climb or already enjoy the sport. By the end of the session, climbers will be proficient with basic climbing movement, technique, and teamwork, all while having fun! No climbing experience necessary.

Our non-competitive team is for young climbers who are dedicated to improving their climbing. This team practices two nights a week year round. There are no age limits, but we do expect a high level of commitment and focus while at practice. They are focused practices with both climbing and non-climbing workouts, all focused on becoming better climbers. Climbers are expected to have basic knowledge and climbing experience, which is necessary to participate in practice.
RoKC’s non-competitive climbing team has the option of traveling to competitions across the midwest. Unlike our competitive team, competitions are optional, but available if desired.

The session is designed for teens to become proficient with intermediate climbing movement, technique, risk management, and teamwork. High School Climbing Club is for both advanced and beginner climbers. Climbing experience is recommended, but motivation is the main ingredient for your teen to love High School Climbing Club. Teen climbers are also given the opportunity to learn the basics of top rope belaying.
Youth climbers who show focus, maturity, and the will to continually improve may be invited to try out for the RoKC Competitive Climbing Team.

Our competitive team is for young climbers who are dedicated to improving. The team practices three nights a week year round and travels to competitions throughout the region. There are no age limits, but we do expect a high level of commitment and focus.
RoKC’s competitive climbing team travels to competitions across the midwest, having sent climbers to regionals and nationals every year since its inception. Climbers are expected to have basic knowledge and climbing experience, which is necessary to participate in practice. Team has structured practice three times a week. They practice for tall climbing competitions in the spring and bouldering competitions in the fall. At least one qualifying competition and the regionals competitions are expected.

Get your little senders moving with RoKC Summer Climbing Camps! Your camper will climb tall walls, play fun games, make great friends and learn new skills! Led by our RoKC Youth Instructors, young climbers learn teamwork, problem-solving, and experience an increase in confidence in climbing. The fun is just a bonus! Our age-appropriate programs always push climbers to new heights.
Camps run every two weeks from May 30th - August 4th at both Olathe and NKC locations.

Terms and Conditions
- The minimum enrollment to run summer camp is 4 children for Ages 4-6 camp and 6 kids for all other camps. If enrollment is below 4 we can either refund your payment or schedule you for a later camp.
- Cancellations up to two week prior to the event will receive a full refund*
- Cancellations under two weeks will not receive a refund*

Drop-off/Pick-up
Check-in begins 10 minutes prior to the start of summer camp. Please do not drop off your climber any earlier as staff will not be available to watch them. Please also be on time to pick up your child as staff will not be available to watch them once camp is over.
Bring the kids in to climb or drop them off in the Play Lounge so you can get a workout in! Our Play Lounge staff is excited to entertain your kiddos in our fun and inclusive environment. RoKC's Play Lounge is not a licensed childcare facility, therefore, a parent/guardian must remain on the RoKC Olathe property during child's stay. All hours are first come, first serve.
Time Limit
Play Lounge is not a licensed child care center. Therefore, ROKC is restricted to only allow your child’s usage of Play Lounge to no more than 2 hours total per day.
